This week in math, we will be building a million! We will begin with large numbers using familiar units (hundreds and thousands) and develop an understanding of millions by building knowledge of the pattern of times ten in the base ten system on the place value chart. Students will notice that multiplying by 10 will shift digits one place to the left, and dividing by 10 will shift digits one place to the right. 3,000 = 300 x 10 3,000 ÷ 10 = 300 We will also be reviewing the four ways to write numbers: standard form, expanded form, expanded notation, and word form. Science - August 19-23rdThis week in science, we will learn about lab safety. Students will explore lab safety equipment, learn how to use it, when to use it, and why we use it. We will also examine different scenarios and practice identifying safe and unsafe practices in the Science Lab. Watch our fun Lab Safety video below!
